And one more thing…
Head over to www.sugarplumpaperie.com today, too- I’m doing the blog challenge this week. It’s a Scrap Pink challenge!
It’s a Birthday Blog Train!
Happy first birthday, ScrapMatters!
As part of the birthday celebration, the SM designers and creative team has formed a blog train! And, boy, it’s massive! Chances are, you just came from neeceebee’s site (www.neeceebeedesigns.blogspot.com)- welcome to my little corner of the web! This is stop #15, and you’re in Columbus, Ohio!
I try to make birthdays special for my two children, and it seems the one tradition I have stuck with are balloons. I work at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and so for each birthday, I stop by the gift shop and pick up a large mylar balloon. They last forever, and Natalie and Braeden’s faces just light up when they see them!
Here is your freebie!

I’ve included both a brag book quick page and a printable invitation- ready for hybridization! In my example, I printed out the invite 3.5″x 5″ and mounted on 4″ x 5.5″ cardstock, and added some ribbon- so easy! Your text can be typed in before printing, or handwritten- it’s all up to you.
The QP is a png file, and the invite is a jpg, both sized to 5″x7″ and 300dpi. I hope you enjoy it!
Without any further ado, I send you on to your next stop: Mary at http://www.plumdumplingdesigns.blogspot.com/. Have a great time!
Discovery
I was in Target the other night, and besides having adorable halloween socks at the Dollar Spot, this year’s “Christmas Cookies” special edition from Better Homes and Gardens was out, so of course I grabbed it. I had a chance to pour over it during lunch yesterday- many dog-earred pages!
It was then I discovered the most beautiful phrase in the english language:
“…or Freeze for up to 3 months.”
That means I can start baking NOW!!!! Happiness! I can bake a little every couple of weeks and store boxes of home-baked goodness in the freezer for later. ***Joy!***
Although I am a flunkie of the Holiday Grand Plan (see www.organizedchristmas.com), I still try to do what I can. I did get the front porch cleaned last weekend (that was for week 1 back at the end of August- DOH!), I did start to stock up on flour and sugar for cookies, and I located the freezer boxes for said morsels. So at least that’s SOMETHING. I may take last year’s envelopes with me to the retreat this weekend and get the Christmas Card list digitized.
More announements later!
Getting back on track
It’s been a week since the remnants of Hurricane Ike blew through. I never thought I would see winds like that since moving away from the Eastern seaboard. We lost power until the overnight on Tuesday (into Wednesday). Fortunately, Jeff’s dad came down from Grand Rapids with a generator, and that saved the basement chest freezer- I was NOT looking forward to losing some 12 pre-made meals, amongst other things.
We were fine, no real damage except for the pine tree that snapped. It was dying, and Jeff was planning to remove it anyway, so that job just came sooner than we planned. Lots of pine cones and crabapples in the yards. All things considered, I’m OK with losing power if it meant we didn’t get the rain- that would have been rough.
Sugarplum Paperie released a new kit! It’s called Autumn Blooms, and it’s a collaboration with Kelley Mickus. It debuted at The Digichick yesterday. It’s gorgeous!!!! I was so happy when we got power back, since it meant I could play with it! I managed to do some pretty cards with it:
I completed the Autumn Blooms trifecta with a third card that I did digitally for a Card Swap challenge at The DigiChick. Not to worry, I’ll do a hybridized version for your enjoyment as well. Nicole- I love this kit!!!!
In other news, ScrapMatters is having another soon-to-be-world-famous Speed Scrap on Tuesday night! It’s at 10pm Eastern, so it’s a late night for me!
One last note- I’ll be hosting the Blog Challenge over at Sugarplum Paperie on Friday! Don’t miss it!
Until later!
More pages!
And the hybrid machine moves on!
Now I need to start planning pages for my retreat at the end of the month- at this rate, I may run out of photos! HA!
Just a note: there’s another speed scrap at ScrapMatters on Thursday, 9/11. It’s at 3pm Eastern, so I won’t be there as I still need to earn a living. That doesn’t mean i won’t pop in to say hi!
More Hybrid, and that Announcement
It’s a post of ScrapMatters love!
The announcement!
I owe the Speed Scrap to refining my digital skills, and forcing me to use my digi stash! Come on over and try it out!!!
More project pics! All of these projects use kits available at ScrapMatters!
Yeesh! I’m tired- and I need more adhesive!
Football, Hybrid Goodness, and Announcements
Ah, a full weekend of football! I am SO happy. The only thing that can make me happier is cooler weather so I can wear my Giants Super Bowl Champion hoodie…
Lots of new hybrid goodies posted hither and yon on the internet. I am in the zone- hope this lasts! At this rate, I could get caught up really easy!
I’m starting to figure out the hybrid balance on layouts, and I am REALLY liking it! I’m doing things in batches- photos still edited and printed as usual, but now I’m getting creative with digital papers. I discovered that doing things in layers. Background paper (with a printed title- makes white on color SUPER easy!!) and then patches of papers pieced together. I can still work drop shadow magic, but it cuts way down on paper waste and scraps. Check this layout:

Homage to LOLCats! Using Hot August Night kit by Andilynn Designs, and a great Tuesday Template by Sya's Blueprints
I have another great hybrid layout, but I need to wait until tomorrow to post! Stay tuned!
More projects! I was on a card roll this week!
My Creative Cup Runneth Over!
Check out the blog over at Scrapmatters- http://scrapmatters.com/wordpress/
tgmousechick- yup, that’s me! This is me jumping up and down in excitement!! Columbus Scrappers will always be my home on the internet, but ScrapMatters has become my digital scrapbooking home. I’m thrilled that I’ll be helping SM grow!
So, you’ll be seeing LOTS of hybrid goodies! Creating for both Sugarplum Paperie and ScrapMatters
There is one downside to scrapping in 12×12- it’s hard to get the full page on the scanner bed- so the bottom gets cut off.
More creative goodness later this week!
Freebie and a drawing for MDA
Happy Labor Day!
I have a freebie and a bribe today! Until Jeff and I make enough money to be professional philantropists, we’ll just encourage our friends to join us!
I made this cool lunch box using a new digital kit available today! It’s called Chilled Wine, and is a joint effort between Sugarplum Paperie and mgl Designs. It’s rich colors are wonderful to work with, and the kit is just huge!!!!
I have enough trinkets around my house, so I want to give it away!!! There is a tiny catch…
Head over to www.mda.org, and make a donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Then head back here and let me know you did it, and you’ll be entered! I’ll keep this offer open until Saturday, September 6th, and then I’ll pick a winner.
I always watched the telethon as a child, and now I get to work with the mission everyday, as a member of Dr. Mendell’s Lab over at Nationwide Children’s Research Institute.
Also, here’s the real freebie, a little piece of word art. It’s my first, it’s a little amateurish, but hey, it’s mine!

Here’s a page I did with it, also using the fabulous Chilled Wine kit:
More fun announcements this week- my creative cup overflows!!!
